Previous The Idyll is Over
In the morning you quickly pack. Just as you finish you hear rustling leaves and branches coming from inside the hedge. As you watch a ‘tunnel’ opens up in front of you and the others. The tunnel is ~25 feet wide and nearly as tall. You can see daylight on the other side but you can’t tell how far away the other side. There are four attendants. Three of them approach Kyle, Marco & Thom. The one who approaches Kyle has a number of mules equal to the number that Kyle brought with him.
Marco & Thom and their attendants appear to know each other and there is a very pleasant conversation going on between them.
The fourth attendant walks up to you. She is a plain looking woman in her late 20’s. She is healthy, plainly dressed and by the look of her hands knows what hard labor means.
She walks up and says “I am Xikou. If you desire to enter and spend time in” Hermitage of the Deep “then you must follow a set of rules. The first rule is that you can never describe to the outside world what happens here. If you receive direction or visions you may share those. How that happened you may not share. If you agree to this, parts of this experience will never be able to describe.”
“The second rule is that when you enter we will provide you with a place for you to leave all the possessions you brought with you. We have places to stable your animals. We will provide you with some simple clothes to wear.”
“Lastly do not change or disturb any artifacts or items you find. Do you agree to these rules?”
“We share common meals. If you decide to help with chores please let someone know and they will be very pleased to give you the directions you need. We have common sleeping areas. One for men and another for women.”
When you go to sleep you just crash. It is a combination of physical and emotional tiredness.
You remember two dreams.
In the first dream you remember when you were the caravan and the many times you were helpful and did not fail people. There were the times when you would entertain children and teach them useful skills/chores so they would stay out of the adults way. You remember helping with the ‘shows’ and there were times where your suggestions helped everyone make more money. You had the idea for the ‘collapsible stage’.
In the second dream you remember the time you spent with the priest who trained you. You were a comfort for him in his old age. You cooked, cleaned and helped him with other chores that he wasn’t able to do for himself. He enjoyed your entertainment at night. You were there when he died.
