NEVER again. The money we got paid was too little for the amount of leg work I had to do. First we are expected to guard the ship as well as the shipment. On the second night they attempt to storm the warehouse and take the ship. We repelled them with minimal difficulty and I took a prisoner who revealed to me the location of the place he was hired and the agent used to employ them.
Then we sailed for the fort and again on day two (Everything likes day 2 the bandits, the attempt to storm the shipment, and now the boat). They tried to halt our vessel by firing ballista bolts with ropes attached to them. There skiffs were shielded from attacks by wooden shields. At the same time a large boat with 4 ballista on board 2 in front 2 in back was attempting to barrel down on us.
Well I had no intentions of allowing that, so I immobilized several of key members and after the skiffs had decided to retreat with encouragement from our ballista and fire from Fiona (who had set her arrows on fire) and Aliella Gyneth throwing lightning at their vessels.
I turned my focus to the main vessel and created a state of chaos. From the captain I was able to learn several key details like that they have a vengeance for the duke, they are connected to the bandits, they sell the stolen goods in Elweir and they are trying to build a new generation of pirate ships to unload the cargo faster.
Then we arrived at the fort. Lierin and I used the prisoner to get in the fort. While we were doing that Raganash Volthar noticed an unusual geographic feature that I would later investigate and nearly got caught to uncover the secret exit/ entrance to the fort.
Aliella Gyneth was called into the fort to save several troops and came back later groggy.
Although the most unusual thing was we fulfilled the task as specified in our deal yet we were paid 3.5x the agreed amount. Hmm will have to ask who else paid.
